PV Design Engineer
Solar PV Engineer - Solar Commercial Photo-voltaic Engineer - Construction - Design - Solar Engineer
Due to very aggressive growth in the renewable energy solar space, Power Partners is seeking a Solar System Design Engineer who will perform and supervise different stages of power stations development, from conceptual design through obtaining planning consent (permitting) to the construction phase and will be actively involved in drawing-up sections of the plans with the aid of CAD –AutoCAD. Engineer will coordinate external resources and support team members in commercial and technical matters. Initial focus will be design and permitting and Project Management and have the opportunity to grow into a Director level role. This role requires much flexibility and adaptability to ever changing and additions in responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Executing design work for the Solar Power Plant Division.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering –BSEE, preferred, electronics or mechanical engineering or related science/degree will also be considered.
- Experience in the development of Power Stations in particular solar or wind power plants. Will consider DC Electrical Systems Design as well.
- Solar System Design experience highly preferred.
- Experience in using the common design and yield estimation tools. CAD (AutoCAD) required.
- Strong understanding of state incentives, tax benefits, creab’s, Pace and other bonds used for financing projects to use for running ROI and Project Feasibility studies
- Fundamental experience in collaboration with electricity suppliers and government agencies.
- NEC (National Electrical Code) knowledge
- PVWATT or PVSYST familiarity a plus
- Able to travel up to 25%
- Strong communication skills required
- Experience generating permit packages a PLUS
- Strong understanding of windows programs (excel, word, power point) important
- Solar industry in an engineering role for minimum of 2 years a PLUS
- Project management of large commercial projects is a Must!
- Ability to generate construction plan-sets and specifications
- Product design experience is a PLUS
Responsibilities
- Executing design work for the Solar Power Plant Division.
- Taking detailed measurements of proposed solar system sites.
- Creating layouts and detailed designs of PV systems.
- Working with Structural and Electrical Engineering consultants on executing code-compliant designs.
- Generating system specifications and preparing bid documents.
- Building detailed Bills of Materials.
- Analyzing construction methodologies and cost structures.
- Interacting with and overseeing the work of subcontractors.
- Serving as the project manager for large-scale PV System Integration projects.
- Performing cost analysis projections and reports.
- Working with the project sales personnel on presentations and technical matters.
